Happenings in the month of August at The Irwin Agency!
August is here which means the young ones are headed back to school soon and we know cooler weather is on the horizon although still a while away. If you are a sports fan there is no better time than late summer early fall; football is starting up and baseball is entering the home stretch!
We have picked two very interesting and relevant articles for you this month. First, Social Security announced a big COLA bump next year, the largest in five years but do not get too excited. Medicare premiums are going up as well and the increase is going to eat most of the COLA increase away.
The second article covers academic research showing more evidence of stock picking, picking individual stocks instead of baskets of stocks or indexes, being a losing game. This article equates successfully picking stocks continuously to playing the lottery, another instance where the odds are stacked against you. This is a great article and definitely worth sharing with those you know, especially your children and grandchildren!
